Liverpool defender van Dijk: I love this club and I don't take it for granted

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has expressed his joy at playing for the club.

The Dutchman is getting back to his best form after missing most of 2020-21 due to a serious knee injury.

And Van Dijk does not take for granted playing for who he describes as 'one of the biggest clubs in the world'.

Speaking about his return, van Dijk told LFC's eMagazine WALK ON: "I always appreciated playing and I wouldn't say that has changed.

"Maybe I appreciate small moments more, but I was already in the frame of mind that I don't take anything for granted. I have a good mindset in this game.

"I play for arguably the biggest club in the world with one of the best teams in Europe, with the quality of players that we have and the manager. It's an amazing place to be and I'm not taking it for granted.

"I'm enjoying every minute of it and it was really tough to be out for such a long time, missing so much football, being with the boys, preparing for games, winning games, travelling and being with the fans. But I'm still the same Virgil.

"It was tough because I went from playing consistently for two years to being out for a year. Missing the Euros was a tough thing for me, but I feel like everything happens for a reason and this injury happened.

"I've recovered, I'm getting better, in my opinion, every day and I'm just enjoying my football."
