Liverpool defender Tony Gallacher is set to join Sunderland.

The Liverpool Echo says Gallacher is primed to depart the club this summer, with Sunderland having made contact over a potential move.

The Black Cats have enquired about a possible loan swoop for the Scot, though a permanent switch is not being ruled out in the midst of talks between the two clubs.

Gallacher signed for the Reds from Falkirk for £200,000 in the January transfer window of 2018 following a successful trial.

He spent four months on loan with Major League Soccer side Toronto FC during the first half of last season.
