Liverpool defender James Milner says defeat at Nottingham Forest came from failing to take their chances.

Taiwo Awoniyi struck the only goal of the game against his old club.

Milner later said: "Obviously we didn't perform how we wanted to. We had a lot of chances to score goals and didn't take them. We weren't alive enough for the second balls and we didn't create enough chances.

"Ali has made a lot of good saves and we could have defender better. We did everything we wanted to do other than put the ball in the back of the net."

On shaking this defeat off quickly, he added: "That's where are. Games come thick and fast. You've got tonight to be disappointed but we have to shake it off and go again."
