Liverpool defender Johnson to land England milestone

Glen Johnson is set to make his 50th international appearance for England this week.

The 29-year old Liverpool right-back will start in Wednesday night's friendly with Denmark at Wembley which will mark the 50th time he has donned the Three Lions shirt since his national team career began 2003.

England boss Roy Hodgson has confirmed that Johnson, who started in the 2-0 friendly loss to Chile in November, will start in place of injured Tottenham right-back Kyle Walker.

"There aren't that many defenders so there is a very good chance," Hodgson said when asked if Johnson would be playing.

"I haven't named the team yet but if you really insist then I will tell you that Glen Johnson will win his 50th cap at right back, yes.

"As you know, Kyle (Walker) has not played the last two or three games for Tottenham."
