Liverpool co-owner Hicks dismisses Everton share stadium idea

Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks has rubbished claims the club could be willing to share a stadium with Everton.

Reports have suggested that Liverpool's American owners Hicks and George Gillett were considering changing their stance on sharing a ground with local rivals Everton at the request of North West Development Agency chief executive Steve Broomhead.

However, Hicks has moved to dismiss the rumours and says the club are still working on their new stadium in Stanley Park.

"There is no interest in a shared stadium and no planned meeting to discuss this," a spokesman for Hicks told the Liverpool Echo.

Everton chief executive Keith Wyness also played down the rumours saying neither club are interested in a groundshare.

"I can categorically state that a shared stadium is not on the agenda of either club," said Wyness.
