Liverpool Champions League winner Djibril Cisse says Steven Gerrard wasn't the best captain he played with.
While full of respect for his former Reds teammate, Cisse admits there's one man who stands above the current Rangers manager.
He told Blic: "There were many captains, some were very good. In terms of how much heart he gives to the club and how connected it is to him, Steven Gerrard is fantastic, but the best captain I played for was Zinedine Zidane in the (French) national team.
"In fact, Zidane is the best player I played with, I have no doubts. I played with a lot of good players, but Zidane was really something special."
On beating AC Milan in the UCL final, Cisse recalled: "What happens in the locker room stays in the locker room, but I will say that we knew we could do more, deserve more and owed the fans more. We took to the field in the second half to come back and win. There are many great players who have not won the Champions League, it is the biggest trophy you can win with the club. Family and friends were very happy."
