Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard won't make their clash at Chelsea today.

The Mail on Sunday says Gerrard has been ruled out of Liverpool's trip to Chelsea - but the skipper could be fit to return to face Hull on New Year's Day.

Gerrard spent Friday sprinting and shooting with fitness trainers at the club's Melwood training ground, three weeks after pulling a hamstring in the 4-1 win at West Ham. It had been feared he would be out for six weeks.
