Liverpool boss Rodgers makes Swansea's Williams priority target

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is pushing to prise Ashley Williams from Swansea City.

The Daily Mail says he Welsh defender, who Rodgers knows from his time managing at the Liberty Stadium, has impressed during Swansea's two seasons in the Premier League, and is close to leading his side to their first Capital One Cup trophy.

It would be the second time Rodgers has cherry-picked from his old club, as he controversially bought Joe Allen last summer after saying he would stay clear of buying from Swansea for 12 months.
