Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is chasing Seattle Sounders fullback DeAndre Yedlin.
The Mirror says Major League Soccer chiefs are struggling to keep hold of Yedlin - reckoned to have been the lowest-paid player at the World Cup.
The lightning-quick Seattle Sounders full-back excelled as Jurgen Klinsmann's team reached the last 16 - but earns just £60,000 a year.
Rodgers' Liverpool are one of several European clubs trying to prise Yedlin away.
But MLS want the Sounders to reward him with a huge new deal. They are keen to keep one of their brightest young talents at home.
