Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has urged Newcastle United to back manager Alan Pardew in the summer market.
Rodgers feels Pardew has been fighting against the tide at Newcastle this past season.
When asked if Newcastle should back Pardew, Rodgers told the Evening Chronicle: "You would hope so. It looks like his job is to create a young player, bring him in, develop and nurture players who don't cost too much then put them back into the market and get the market value up.
"He's certainly done that with those types. But you have to invest. You have to keep improving."
