Liverpool boss Klopp will stick with Mignolet over Karius – Molby

Jan Molby believes that Jurgen Klopp will keep faith in Simon Mignolet to start in goal against Hull City.

Summer signing Loris Karius made his debut for Liverpool during the 3-0 EFL third round victory over Derby County on Tuesday night with the German performing admirably in his first Reds start.

There have now been suggestions that Karius could potentially replace Mignolet in the starting line-up for the Premier League clash against Hull on Saturday but Liverpool legend Molby believes that Klopp will stick with Mignolet as the Belgian has done nothing to deserve being omitted.

Molby stated in his column for the Liverpool Echo: "Loris Karius made his first start for Liverpool but I don't think we learned anything about whether he'll be the number one going forward.

"Klopp is a very fair manager and for him to change the goalkeeper I think he'd need a reason. I don't think Simon Mignolet has given him a reason so in the short term I'd expect him to continue. I don't think Mignolet has been as poor as some people make out. He's doing okay.

"It's obvious looking at Karius and his high starting position up the pitch that he and Mignolet have been brought up differently and they have different qualities as keepers."
