Liverpool boss Klopp tries to ease tension: I don't have same history with Evra as Kop

Liverpool fans enjoyed barracking Patrice Evra throughout Saturday's thumping win over West Ham.

The former Manchester United captain made his full debut for the Irons in the 4-1 defeat and Reds fans reminded him of his clash with Kop hero Luis Suarez throughout the game.

Suarez's name was sung by the crowd as Jurgen Klopp's men romped to victory.

Microphones picked up a chant of “one lying b******", with the song getting highlighted on social media.

Kop boss Klopp hugged Evra at the final whistle in an attempt to defuse the situation.

When asked about the barracking of the French defender, Klopp said: “I heard it during the game but I don't have the same history with Evra as the Liverpool supporters.

“I can't say anything about that."

Suarez was banned for eight matches for racially abusing Evra more than seven years ago.

Hammers boss David Moyes said: “I thought Patrice played really well. He showed his experience and you wouldn't expect anything else."
