Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is readying a move for Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz.
The Daily Star Sunday says Klopp has identified Wirtz as a long-term successor for Mohamed Salah.
Bayer are resigned to losing Wirtz in 2024 with Europe's biggest clubs now circling.
But Klopp's reputation in Germany and extensive contacts guarantee Liverpool being genuine contenders for the Bundesliga's fast-rising superstar.
This season, Wirtz has scored five times in all competitions this season. He also has 12 caps with Germany.
Bayer rate the 20 year-old in the £80m class.
