Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is reviving his long-term interest in Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

Klopp has been tracking Kovacic since his time in charge of Borussia Dortmund and made enquiries after his availability last summer.

Diario Gol says Klopp is ready to try again for the Croatia international for the winter market.

With Emre Can refusing to pen new terms with the Reds, Kovacic is under consideration at Liverpool as a replacement.

Despite being rated highly inside Real, Kovacic has told coach Zinedine Zidane he is prepared to leave if he cannot get guarantees about playing regularly.
