Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp hailed the performance of Takumi Minamino after their 7-2 friendly victory over Blackpool.
Positioned behind Roberto Firmino in the 'number 10' position, the Japan international scored one and set up another as the Reds recovered from 2-0 down to finish their preparations for the new Premier League season in style.
Having endured a quiet start to life at Anfield, despite winning a Premier League winner's medal, the 25-year-old's performance against the Seasiders capped off a memorable week for the forward after scoring his first Liverpool goal at Wembley in the Community Shield against Arsenal last weekend.
"I hope (he takes) a lot (of confidence from it). It's clear that's what you always hope for," the German said after the final whistle. “It's important for Taki and important for us, but it's about all together, so I think about the overall performance.
"Individuals then can always shine when everything else works, that's how it is. If you only have these individual glimpses here and there, it doesn't really work out.
“So, we have to work to win football games. Who scores then is not too important. But for Taki, of course it was a rather nice seven or eight days – of course."
