Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard is set to start his first game of the season against Manchester United.

Gerrard has played just 46 minutes since returning from a six-month lay-off following groin surgery.

But Kenny Dalglish is set to play Gerrard when United visit Anfield on October 15.

It will be his first top-flight start since helping Liverpool defeat Sir Alex Ferguson's side 3-1 on March 6.
