Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has blasted calls for foreign quotas in the Premiership.

Skipper Steven Gerrard is among those backing the idea.

But his boss said: "We are trying to keep the local players. They show the rest what the passion means.

"But balance is the key. If you have 20 local players with quality to win trophies, then perfect. If you don't, you need to bring in foreign players."
