Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has approached Charlton Athletic for striker Darren Bent.

The Sun says the £14million-rated Charlton ace has become the No1 summer target for Liverpool boss Benitez after Barcelona hitman Samuel Eto'o revealed he wants to stay in Spain.

Bent, 23, bagged 15 goals last term despite Charlton being relegated and scored on the final day of the season in a 2-2 draw at Anfield.

West Ham are also keen but rate the England star at nearer £10m.
