Liverpool battler Mario Balotelli strikes close relationship with Father Massimiliano

Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has become close to an Italian priest.

TMW says Balotelli and Father Massimiliano are in regular contact, with the latter praising the striker's character and mental strength following an uneasy start to his career at Anfield.

Father Massimiliano believes that Balotelli has the right attributes to become a success in the Premier League, and believes that the ex-Manchester City man could use more 'serenity' in his life.

He said: "I spoke with everyone [in the Italy squad], even with Balotelli.

"With him I have created a good relationship. I've found him peaceful and quiet, I hope this will make for the good of the national team.

"If he is good there will be other opportunities for him. It's all in his hands. I found him peaceful, tranquil and eager. In the last year a friendship was born, as with other players.

"He has suffered from the media. He's still 24 years old and since he was 18 he's the centre of attention.

"A little more serenity would do good for all, especially for a guy like him."
