Liverpool attacker Bellamy upset with lack of protection for Team GB

Liverpool attacker Craig Bellamy was unimpressed by the refereeing for Team's GB draw against Senegal.

Britain's scorer in Thursday's 1-1 draw with Senegal was undergoing extra training and physiotherapy to ensure he is fit for tomorrow's second Group A clash with United Arab Emirates.

Bellamy said: "I got caught on the end of probably the worst tackle I faced and it just tweaked my medial ligament a little bit.

"There wasn't much protection but it's difficult for a player to get involved in that. What can you do? You just have to get on with it. We only managed a draw due to a Senegal equaliser, not due to tackles or anything.

"I should be all right for the UAE match. Now it's all about preparing for that game and making sure we bounce back.

"That's what a tournament is about and I'm loving the chance to be involved in a major tournament, especially at the age of 33.

"We have a great group of boys, the manager has been brilliant as well. It's been a special occasion and I'm just fortunate to be part of it.

"It's something I definitely wanted to be involved in - it's just been unbelievable. Every day I'm waking up looking forward to every moment because this is something I've never experienced.

"The Opening Ceremony is a huge part of that and I would have loved to have been part of it. But I need to get myself ready for the game on Sunday.

"I'm here to qualify, that is my main priority. I would honestly have loved nothing more than to be there but I'm realistic enough to know that's not possible."
