Klaas Jan Huntelaar has entered new contract talks with Schalke.

Liverpool and Arsenal have been touted as potential suitors along with Tottenham, who considered flogging Roberto Soldado to make room.

But Schalke chief Horst Heldt told BILD: "I am able to confirm a chat with Huntelaar.

"It was a good conversation. Both parties have signalled a basic interest in a new agreement to carry on together in the future."
