Liverpool and Arsenal are among the clubs who are closely following the contract situation of Max Meyer at Schalke.
The German midfielder is rated as one of the most exciting prospects in his position. He is only 22, and is showing serious improvement to his game every season.
As he stalls on signing a new deal with Schalke, a summer move becomes more likely. His contract expires in the summer, and he would be available on a free transfer.
Speaking to Bild, Schalke president Clemens Tonnies said: "I had an appointment with Max and his advisor, which was cancelled by his agent on short notice.
"If someone doesn't want to talk to me, I cannot change that."
