Liverpool ace Xherdan Shaqiri had a running battle with Iceland defender Runar Mar Sigurjonsson during Switzerland's Nations League win this week.

Shaqiri admits he didn't know Sigurjonsson actually plays in Switzerland with Grasshoppers.

"He's playing at GC?" Shaqiri asked at the final whistle. "He was a bit aggressive.

"Like any technically good player, I have to defend myself. I cannot always say: Come on, kick my socks! But I always tried to stay calm."

Sigurjonsson also told Blick, "What happens on the pitch, stays on the pitch. No problem, that's all forgotten again. I am very disappointed, we had several opportunities to test Switzerland, a very good team."
