Liverpool and AC Milan are interested in Schalke defender Malick Thiaw.

Italian journalist Manuele Baiocchini is reporting Milan are keen to sign the 20 year-old before next week's transfer deadline. However, they face competition from Liverpool.

The Reds did business with Schalke a year ago for Ozan Kabak, now of Norwich City, and are tracking Thiaw.

Thiaw has made 21 appearances for Schalke this season without scoring.

The defender's contract with the club runs until June 30, 2024.
