Live from Sydney: Corica gutted as Sky Blues let 3 points slip against Jeonbuk Motors

Steve Corica cut a dejected figure after Sydney FC were unable to hold on against Jeonbuk Motors in the AFC Champions League on Wednesday.

The Sky Blues went from a goal down to lead 2-1 thanks to goals from Trent Buhagiar and Adam Le Fondre.

But Jeonbuk silenced the home crowd when Brazilian substitute Murilo equalised with a minute remaining.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Corica admitted his side had given up three points.

"Disappointed comes to mind," he said. "We got ourselves back in the game to then go 2-1 up, and then obviously to concede very late on against one of the best teams in Asia, I think it's disappointing.

"But again, full credit to the boys for getting themselves back in the game. But yeah, we should've won that. We should have three points and we would be in better position that we are now."

Sydney skipper Alex Wilkinson described the last five minutes of the game as "garbage" and "not good enough" when speaking to Fox Sports.

And Corica agreed with the veteran defender.

"Yes. Simple as that. They had ten-men, simple as that. We need to keep the ball. If we keep the ball, we don't concede a goal. It's very simple.

"Obviously Wilko was frustrated when he said that, but it's the truth. In these situations we just need to be better."

The result means Sydney continue to labour through the AFC's premier club competition.

Corica's side were unable to grab a win from six group stage matches last season.

But the former Sky Blues midfielder insists his side will do everything in their power to win their remaining four games.

"You just keep trying. We weren't outplayed tonight. We weren't outplayed last year.

"I think actually if you look at the games from last year we probably dominated the game. But we'll keep going, that's all we can do.

"We've got another four games, but of course at home its important try and get wins. And we didn't do that tonight. We went very close but we didn't."
