Lita puts off Reading contract talks

Leroy Lita has rejected a new contract offer with Reading.

The striker held talks with Royals director of football Nicky Hammond over a new four-year deal worth £20,000 a week.

But Lita, 22, has decided to join team-mate Nicky Shorey - a target for West Ham - in keeping his options open.

The £6m-rated Congo-born star has two years left to run on his current contract but Reading could decide to cash in to avoid losing him for a cut-price fee next summer.
