Lindpere enjoying best form of his career with NYRB

Estonian midfielder Joel Lindpere insists 2010 with the New York Red Bulls was the best season of his football career so far. The 29-year old admits he immediately felt 'comfortable' in New York when he arrived from Norwegian club Tromso IL and is looking to continue the form of last season with a strong group of players in 2011.

"This year, we have a big amount of young players, and everyone is working hard," Lindpere told the NY Times.

"I have always played. I hate to stay on the bench and watch the others play. I'm not that kind of player. Last year, I was so comfortable. I think it was the best year of my career."

Lindpere is a regular in the Estonian national team and says he found it hard to get back to Europe to play for the Sinisärgid (Blueshirts) last year but confirmed that conversations with manager Tarmo Rüütli, who coached him at Flora Tallinn, about this year have so far been positive.

"I've been in the national team for more than 10 years, and I've always been traveling and playing and doing things," Lindpere added. "When I moved here, it became so difficult to travel. I will talk with the national team coach, who was also my coach as a club player, and see. I'm also recovering from the surgery. Now my plan is to wait and see."

And as for his future with the Red Bulls, he says he is content to call New York his home for now.

"I have a contract here and I'm respectful for the team," he said. "I made a great year here. I need to continue and see what happens. I have no problems staying here."
