Mark Lillis is backing Brian Laws for success at Burnley.
Lillis, now the assistant manager to Sammy McIlroy at Morecambe, cut his own teeth as a coach under Laws at Scunthorpe and as his assistant.
"It's a great appointment for Laws - and a great appointment for Burnley," Lillis told the Lancashire Telegraph.
"He is a fine manager, forget what happened at Sheffield Wednesday. That is a club where things can and do go wrong. Brian did a smashing job at Grimsby and an even better job at Scunthorpe and takes a lot of things into management that he learned as a player under Brian Clough while at Nottingham Forest.
"He will do a superb job for Burnley."
