Tottenham won't roll over and allow Harry Redknapp to take the England job without a fight. The Daily Mail says Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will not let the manager who has taken the club to third in the Barclays Premier League to walk away without a fight. Levy will insist on substantial compensation from the FA.
However, there is no sense of resignation at Spurs that Redknapp will leave. There remains a hope that another crack at Champions League football next season could be enough to persuade Redknapp to stay - and even sign a new contract. Tottenham officials have held private discussions about the prospect of Redknapp replacing Fabio Capello, who quit as England manager on Wednesday.
