Lescott proud of first season with West Brom

West Bromwich Albion defender Joleon Lescott is delighted with his first season with the Baggies.

Lescott has helped Albion to more clean sheets in the top flight since at any stage since his birth in 1982.

He has started 30 league games since mid-September making a mockery of any doubts about his age or fitness.

After collecting the Disabled Supporters' Player of the Year award he told the Birmingham Mail: "I enjoy playing. That's what I came here to do.

"As a club and a team we had an ambition and a goal to stay in the league and that's still ongoing, but there's no substitute for playing football regularly.

"There have been ups and downs but our end goal hasn't changed and if we hit those it's an achievement.

"Any award is a good award.

"Whenever anyone recognises what I'm trying to do on the pitch then I'm grateful for it."
