Lerma, Rico make Bournemouth debut against Brentford

Bournemouth gave debuts to two players in a friendly against Brentford B at Griffin Park.

The club's record signing Jefferson Lerma participated, as did Diego Rico.

Bournemouth used the game to get some of their senior players extra match practice, as they had not been involved in the first two games of the season.

The likes of March Pugh, Jack Simpson and Mark Travers also participated. The rest of the squad was made up primarily from the under-21 side.

U21 coach Carl Fletcher told the Daily Echo: "All the first-team players had some good minutes and showed a good attitude.

"I think that was probably what the manager wanted. We have strength in depth and everybody is ready to step in when needed.

"This was an ideal opportunity for players to keep up their fitness levels.

"It was also great for some of my lads to get experience of playing alongside players from different cultures and first-team players who have been playing in the Premier League. They can see what the demands are to push them forward.

"Both Jefferson and Diego trained with us to keep up their fitness levels on Saturday which was also great for my guys."
