Leicester City defender Patrick Kisnorbo is intent on forcing his way back into the Socceroos squad after 12 months of injuries.
The Foxes centre back has had a torrid run with injuries on both of his knees in the last year but is keen to put all that behind him and again become a Socceroo.
"I'm really hopefully getting back into the Australian team," he told The World Game.
"That would be fantastic. I've had a bit of contact with Pim (Verbeek) and I'm sure he knows I'm back now playing games for my club and how hungry I am.
"It was ironic that when I was on standby for the Bahrain game after Craig Moore pulled out, I ended up hurting my other knee and that kept me out for another few months after I'd only just come back from surgery on my ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.
"Being out tests you mentally and physically. I've gained a lot of strength from the experience. It's taught me that if it doesn't kill you it makes you stronger.
"I've missed a lot of football and haven't had a lot of good luck, but that's all behind me now."
