Leicester defender Evans: Liverpool were simply better than us

Leicester City defender Jonny Evans concedes they're facing relegation after a poor 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Liverpool.

Curtis Jones struck twice ahead of Trent Alexander-Arnold also scoring for the visitors.

Evans said, "I thought the first 25 minutes until they scored, we were playing well. The first goal caught us out and the quick second goal kills us off.

"You're always at your most vulnerable when you concede. It knocks your confidence."

On the first goal, he said: "It's one of them. As centre-backs, we probably got caught under the ball a bit. We didn't deal with it. You can see it happening but we couldn't get back in time to cut it out.

"I thought the crowd were great with us tonight and showed a lot of support. They could see we were working hard. We were playing against a good Liverpool side.

"They ran the game physically after scoring and we couldn't compete in the end.

"It's been frustrating for me with six months of muscle injuries. A lot of players are playing with knocks and niggles.

"Most players want to be out there competing and doing what they can for the club."

On why they are struggling, he added: "It's hard to put your finger on it. We haven't been good this season. That's the bottom line. We've lost too many games and other teams have been better than us.

"Two more games left, we'll have to put in the same effort we did tonight."
