Leicester cut loose ex-Juventus junior (and waiter) Davide Lorenzo

Leicester City have named their released players list.

Davide Lorenzo is one of nine players to be released by Leicester this summer.

The forward, handed a contract at City after a chance meeting with the club's late chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, has seen his deal expire alongside the likes of title-winners Shinji Okazaki and Danny Simpson.

Lorenzo had been in Juventus' youth set-up as a youngster but had travelled the world − from Switzerland to Norway to Belgium and the USA − in search of a professional contract.

After a deal with a lower-league French team broke down, the 25-year-old started working as a waiter in Nice, where he served Khun Vichai, says the Leicester Mercury.

After explaining his story to the Thai businessman, Lorenzo was offered a short-term contract at City, and has been training with the Under-23s this season.

Joining Lorenzo, Okazaki and Simpson in heading for the exit are several key members of Steve Beaglehole's Under-23s squad, including defensive midfielder Lamine Kaba Sherif and full-back Louis Ramsay, who only joined from Norwich last summer.

Goalkeeper Max Bramley, who spent the first half of the campaign on loan at non-league Telford, has also left, as have Kairo John-Edwards, Habib Makanjuola and Alassane Meite.

Four scholars complete the list of released players: Dylan Bollard, George Heaven, Joszef Keaveny and Harrison Myring.
