Leicester chief: We believed in Ranieri, he wanted to be a success

Leicester City vice-chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha has stated that they knew Claudio Ranieri would be a success at the King Power Stadium, despite his acrimonious exit from Greece the national team prior to his arrival.

Leicester took a bit of a gamble by appointing Ranieri in the summer as the Italian had his reputation damaged following a terrible four-game spell with Greece.

The move clearly paid off as Ranieri guided the Foxes to the Premier League title against all odds this season and Srivaddhanaprabha has revealed that he was always confident that the Italian would be a success in the East Midlands.

Srivaddhanaprabha said: "We believed in him. We felt he wanted to be a success.

"I know everyone wants to be a success but he was the right guy with the plans, and the right guy who said what we wanted to hear.

"That is very important when we interview someone. I asked him about Greece because I wanted to know. He answered everything very clearly, why he failed there, why things happened in the past.

"I love his character and the way he talks, and now you have seen how he takes the pressure off everyone and the club. He knows how to manage that well."
