Leganes sporting director Txema Indias admits they explored trying to sign Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz last month.

Mariano was linked to replace Sevilla signing Youssef En-Nesyri, but Indias felt it was never likely.

"Mariano is above Leganes, he wasn't going to leave Real Madrid," he explained to Radio MARCA.

"We didn't see the need to improve the attack, then when En-Nesyri left we had to put our heads together."
