Leeds boss Marsch ponders Aaronson and Harrison positional demands

Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch was asked about Brenden Aaronson and Jack Harrison's recent desire to swap roles.

Aaronson would prefer to play centrally, while Harrison wants to go back to the wing.

Marsch's side take on Leicester City in the Premier League on Thursday.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Marsch stated: "This was a discussion during the week and a big tenet of my leadership style is ownership and wanting the players to feel ownership and wanting to give their opinions.

“Obviously, I have a job to do to make decisions, but when I make decisions that maybe are against the way a player feels or against him being in the line-up, if they know what the process is and they believe in the way that I treat them and go about making the decisions then they can even be satisfied and commit to it even if they don't entirely agree.

“So when those two come up to me at half-time, Brenden [Aaronson] came up to me first and I said go speak to Jack [Harrison]. Then Jack and Brenden came to me and I said - and by the way, half-time is pretty quick - but I said what do you think Jack? How do you feel? And he said yeah, I think it'll be good. And Brenden's reasoning was maybe Jack could be in more 1 v 1 situations and I can help press in the middle and close things down and it'll be beneficial to us and the team and I said great, lets do it.

“I think it was one of the things that helped in the second half against Arsenal. I think the tempo we played at in the first half challenged them, and I think that change and Pat [Patrick Bamford] coming on made a big difference in the second half."
