Leeds United boss Simon Grayson has defended the disciplinary record of his squad after the club incurred a fine of £2,500 at Stockport County. United landed the automatic penalty from the Football Association after six of their players were booked during Monday's 4-2 victory at Edgeley Park, reports the Yorkshire Evening Post.
But Grayson was quick to praise the discipline shown by his players since the start of the 2009-10 term.
United have not incurred a single red card in any of their 32 competitive matches this season and Leigh Bromby is only the third player to serve a one-match ban for accumulating five cautions. Michael Doyle and Robert Snodgrass have previously completed short bans.
Grayson said: "We do compete and we do battle but we're not a dirty team by any stretch of the imagination. That's not what we're about.
"Robert Snodgrass was booked (on Monday) for a great tackle near the touchline which wasn't even a free-kick, never mind a yellow card.
"Some of the bookings were justified - Richard Naylor and Patrick Kisnorbo deserved theirs - but others were harsh."
