Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has urged fans not to panic over Nico Cortese's departure this week.
Le Tizz and Cortese have clashed since the Italian first became chairman and he wrote in the Daily Mail: "I think Nicola Cortese's departure has been blown out of proportion. He was just the chairman at the end of the day, spending the Liebherr family's money.
"If they had said they were walking away then the club might have been in trouble.
"I don't think there will be a mass exodus of players. Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed he will stay and the players are a pretty tight group so that's reassuring for the fans.
"Nicola is a complex personality and could treat people very differently depending on who they were.
"You have to be balanced. The club have done an incredible job on the pitch since Nicola's been there. We have gone from League One to the Premier League and he has to be thanked for that. But there are ways he could have done it better."
