Le Tissier: England duo Alli, Sterling lucky to start against Sweden

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier believes that a couple of England players are lucky if they start the next game against Sweden.

Le Tissier singled out Dele Alli and Raheem Sterling for criticism after the game, suggesting they did not do enough to keep their place in the starting eleven.

England struggled to create anything from open play against Colombia, needing a Harry Kane penalty to take the lead.

Le Tissier suggests the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Marcus Rashford will be itching for a chance in the starting lineup.

"The pair of them will be very fortunate if they're still in the starting line-up come Saturday," Le Tissier told talkSPORT.

"Loftus-Cheek is pushing hard for a place and Rashford is as well.

"It's going to be an interesting one because I think Gareth probably will be loyal to the players he thinks are his best side.

"But at the same time you've also got to make some tough decision some times.

"They've had two or three games now and it's not happening for them – it's time to give someone else a chance."
