Lazio president Lotito uses public statement to tell Sarri and Tare: Knock it off!

Lazio president Claudio Lotito has released a public statement ordering coach Maurizio Sarri and sporting director Igli Tare to end their bickering.

The pair have traded barbs in the press over transfer spending.

But in a statement, Lotito declared: “Lazio are one of the clubs listed on the stock exchange and an important club in football. However, first and foremost, we are a big family. Like in every family, there can be different visions which we can discuss internally.

“Surely, the recent opinions expressed have a constructive aim.

“As you know, I rarely intervene in the club's dynamics, and I have complete trust in who is in charge, both the sporting area [Tare] and the technical guidance [Sarri]. At the start of the season, we identified the sporting targets for this season, ambitious and realistic.

“For this reason, we strengthened the team with valuable signings who are enormously helping the team. The same was done within the club by adding new figures.

Lazio are in the race for the season targets and have proved that we can compete with our direct opponents. At the end of the season, we'll make our assessments after fighting in every game to reach the best possible result. Tensions will be put aside to avoid them being exaggerated by those who want to destabilize the environment."
