Lavicka eyeing positive result for Sydney from Melbourne Victory clash

Sydney FC boss Vitezslav Lavicka feels his side is traveling well enough to get a positive result from tomorrow night's clash with Melbourne Victory at the Sydney Football Stadium.

The Sky Blues have put together two wins on the trot as the Victory have slumped to a couple of losses in a row and the Czech tactician is of firm belief that this fixture could provide some joy for the reigning champions.

''Every clash against Melbourne Victory is amazing for both teams and for all football fans,'' Lavicka said.

''We have improved in the last part of this season, winning two straight games, and now we are focusing to keep going the same way, to get a similar result against them and to play good football against them. They've had trouble this season, they're missing a couple of key players but it's the same for us. Both teams still have other good quality players in the squad so it should be an entertaining game.

''We have a respect for them because we know they have a good team and a good quality squad but we are keen to play good football and get a good quality result against them.''

It has been a shared fixture in recent times with both sides winning three and having three draws in the past nine encounters and Lavicka wants his charges to step up for this particular meeting.

"Because the rivalry between Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory is one of the biggest in the league, we would like [to show] ourselves and our fans that we can improve,'' he added.
