Martin Laursen has promised Aston Villa teammates a huge party if they qualify for Europe this season.

The Danish defender has bottles of bubbly stacked up at home after winning a host of player-of-the-match awards.

As Laursen, 30, celebrated the signing of his new two-year contract, he admitted: "I'll have a party and open them all if we get into Europe.

"I'm not sure how many bottles I've won but I've got them all at home."

Laursen is having his best season at Villa since joining in a £3million deal from AC Milan in May 2004.

The six-goal defender, who is just one behind leading scorer Gabriel Agbonlahor, added: "The future's bright and my goals have brought me great satisfaction."
