Arsenal hero Lauren believes Atletico Madrid have the edge ahead of tonight's first-leg of their Europa League semifinal.

Lauren played in Spain for Sevilla, Levante and Real Mallorca before moving to London.

He told AS: "I think (Atletico are favourites). They know the competition, study the matches very well. But if we see the Arsenal that played against Milan in Italy, against CSKA at home, they can beat Atletico."

Asked if Atletico coach Diego Simeone would be a good replacement for the departing Arsene Wenger, Lauren wasn't so sure.

He added: "They are two antagonistic philosophies, from the combative game to the tactical. I do not know if that fits into what Arsenal is. The fans want face changes, but they dream of seeing the Arsenal again of a few years ago."

Lauren also revealed he is currently in Seville studying towards being a future sporting director.
