Larqué: Benzema must regret leaving Real Madrid for Al-Ittihad

Former PSG player and coach Jean Michel Larqué is convinced Karim Benzema regrets his move to Al-Ittihad.

Benzema left Real Madrid for Al-Ittihad last summer.

Larqué said on Rothen: "Benzema regrets. Of course, everyone does what they want, but making their departure a success was important. I remember that he had expressed his desire to finish his career at Real Madrid.

"He had the opportunity. He could have stopped walking out the big door, having brought several titles and obtained the Ballon d'Or. He was lost by joining an artificial championship.

"Sometimes I see the games in Saudi Arabia and he no longer has legs. The twilight of a career is a terrible thing. It is a losing battle. You don't feel like it anymore. It's a losing battle and I feel like he could have gone out the big door. He didn't, it's a shame. Doing one more year at Real Madrid or retiring at that time would have been boring too."
