Langerak leaves Dortmund to complete Stuttgart move

Socceroos goalkeeper Mitch Langerak has joined Stuttgart from Borussia Dortmund for a reported €4million ($AUD5.8m).

Stuttgart revealed the 26-year-old shot-stopper had signed a three-year deal with the club.

The move comes after Langerak saw limited opportunities as the starting goalkeeper during his five-year stint with Dortmund, making just 15 league appearances while acting as the backup to Roman Weidenfeller.

Langerak will compete with Poland's Przemyslaw Tyton for the starting role at Stuttgart.

"Langerak has a positive attitude and proved in Dortmund that he is a big goalkeeping talent," new Stuttgart coach Alexander Zorninger said following the announcement.

"He moved ahead of a world champion like Roman Weidenfeller at least temporarily last season.

"He is a really good keeper. I watched him several times and have seen only one match in which he did not look so good, and that was the cup final, so I told [sporting director] Robin Dutt: 'If we can get him, bring him in immediately.'"
