Chelsea's England captain Frank Lampard hailed Scott Parker after victory over Spain.
Lampard praised the performance of his defenders as well as Tottenham midfielder Parker, who put in a man-of-the-match display in his holding midfield role.
"The back four and Scott were fantastic," he added. "They didn't allow them to play through the 18-yard box like they can do.
"While we had to hang on we're very pleased.
"They are without doubt the best team in the world. It gives us something to build on but we know we have to improve.
"We won't get ahead of ourselves because we have a game on Tuesday (against Sweden) and the reverse could happen.
"We have to keep our heads down."
