Lamela credits Argentina recall to supportive Spurs management

Erik Lamela credits his Argentina recall to the support he's received from Tottenham this season.

The winger has praised the backing he received from Spurs when the going was tough last season.

In comments reported by Central Fox, Lamela is quoted as saying: "Being called to the national team is the best thing that could happen to a football player. I will enjoy it and will try to give my best from me. I am very happy to be in the team again.

"To be honest, I was surprised when I found out I was being recalled, most of all because the list of players had already been done. At the last minute I was told that I had to travel to Dusseldorf and I am very happy about that.

"I had a long injury, so I am thankful to my current club as they have always backed me for anything that I needed.

"In fact, I feel that they have taken care of me, and thanks to that I have started the season in the best way.

"If I have a good performance in my team then the doors of the national team may keep on being opened for me, just like it has happened in this occasion."
