Lambert confident as Aston Villa prepare for Everton

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert feels his side is well-placed ahead of the weekend's clash with Everton.

Villa have dropped to tenth on the Premier League table following three straight defeats but they have come at the hands of three of last season's top five sides in Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City.

On Saturday, the Villans head to Goodison Park to meet the Toffees and despite the recent run of bad results, Lambert is in a positive frame of mind.

"We've had to come through four really hard games and if you look at it - Everton finished fifth last season so you're virtually playing the top five," the club's official website.

"Everton are a good side. I think they're in a false position in the table at the moment. They've got some really good players there. It may not be the start they wanted but it just goes to show that the league is tough.

"They're a really good side so we're under no illusions how hard it's going to be.

"But we're playing well ourselves.

"If someone had said to me we'd beat Liverpool when we did and get three points from the last four games I'd have certainly taken it.

"Some of the football we've played has been really, really good. We'll go up there and try to win. We're playing well enough to go and do it.

"We've had good games up there in the past and we'll go and give it a right good go again.

"It's a good atmosphere up there and a good stadium to play football in."
