Lambert aware Norwich fans have high expectations for first home game

Norwich boss Paul Lambert faces Stoke at home on Sunday knowing the Canaries fans will expect the sort of football that has seen them secure successive promotions on the back of an entertaining, attacking style. Norwich were the only one of the three promoted clubs to return a positive result from their opening day fixture after earning a 1-1 draw at Wigan, with QPR and Swansea both well beaten 4-0.

"I think it's the same as any other game. It will be a full house as it has been for the last two years. I know what to expect and so do the players," said Lambert.

"There will be a massive crowd coming out to support us, but we are up against a really good side.

"The onus is on us to make the running because we are at home - that's normal."

Lambert, however, stressed: "I don't think that you get two games the same [in the Premier League].

"I watched Stoke last Sunday [against Chelsea] and I thought they were excellent. They got a terrific result (0-0).

"It is going to be a really hard game for us, but we are looking forward to it."

Lambert believes his squad can take great credit from their performance last weekend, battling back after conceding a first-half penalty and then digging in to secure a point.

"We were under pressure for spells of the game at Wigan, but we did really fine to come back from a goal down," he said.
